This page explains what personal data Japan by Koichi collects through japanbykoichi.com, why, and how it is handled.
Japan by Koichi is the mountain guide service run by Koichi Sugiyama, based in Kumano, Wakayama, Japan. For any question about your data, please get in touch through our contact page.
When you use our contact form, we collect the information you choose to enter: your name, email address, route or stages of interest, travel dates, group size, and any message or special request you write to us.
We do not ask for payment details, passport numbers or any other sensitive data through this website.
We use this information only to reply to your enquiry and, if you decide to book, to plan and organise your trip on the Kumano Kodo. We do not use your data for advertising, and we do not sell or rent it to third parties.
A few services help us run this website and reply to you:
— Resend, our email provider, is used to send and receive the messages from the contact form. — Cloudflare provides hosting, security and content delivery for the site, and may process technical data such as your IP address to prevent abuse. — Sentry helps us detect technical errors on the site; it may log limited technical information (such as browser type) when something breaks. — Umami, our self-hosted, privacy-friendly analytics tool, only if you accept it in the cookie banner — see our Cookie Policy for details.
None of these providers use your data for their own advertising purposes.
We keep contact form messages for as long as needed to reply to you and, if you book a trip, to organise and look back on it. If you have not booked a trip, we aim to delete your message within a reasonable time after our conversation ends.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask us what data we hold about you, to correct it, or to have it deleted. To exercise any of these rights, please contact us through our contact page.
This website uses a small number of cookies, described in full in our Cookie Policy.
We may update this page from time to time, for example if we start using a new service. The date at the top shows when it was last revised.
