A small home for pilgrims in Kumano.
Walk. Rest. Share. Then continue your journey.
Coming soon — not open for bookings yetPilgrimage is not only about walking. It is also about the pauses that give the journey its meaning.
Gran Peregrino is not meant to be a hotel. It is meant to be a house where pilgrims can rest properly, share a meal, meet people from other countries, and then continue on their way.
"Peregrino" means pilgrim in Spanish. The name holds both halves of the idea: a house in Kumano, named in the language of the other great pilgrimage Koichi has walked.
Two ancient paths of the heart — and the only two pilgrimage routes in the world recognised as UNESCO World Heritage.
A good night of sleep before the road ahead.
Simple, warm meals, shared together.
Stories, smiles and new friendships.
Step out refreshed, and keep going.
From early mornings to quiet evenings, the idea is simple: a place where people from different countries gather, share food and stories, and feel at home for a night before the trail takes them on.
Koichi is a mountain guide in Kumano and a pilgrim himself. He wants Gran Peregrino to feel more like a pilgrim's home than a hotel — the kind of place he looked for when he was the one walking.
More about Koichi →The house is still being restored, so there is nothing to book yet. Follow the journey as it takes shape in Kumano.
